Blob
Standard Operating Procedure

The Blob has the potential to cause injury. Because of this, NLBC will train Summer Staff to follow the procedure outlined below.

1. Maximum weight difference is 50 pounds. Please ensure that this is not exceeded.

2. All participants must wear a PFD.

3. Only the Supervisor and 1 participant may be on the platform. All others must wait on the dock below.

4. CHECK that the area in front of the blob is clear!

5. Do not allow the ‘blobber’ to enter the launching area until the ‘blobbee’ is in position. This will eliminate the possibility of launching a participant onto the dock. The operator will use their body to shield the camper from the opening until the ‘blobbee’ is ready.

6. Blobbers MUST land on their BUM! (Landing on feet may cause broken ankles , serious knee injury, or similar injury).

7. Instruct the ‘blobber’ to jump when the ‘blobbee’ is ready. DO NOT force a camper to do this or any activity at camp.

8. ‘Blobbee’ is to swim to the red ladder to exit the water.

9. No DOUBLE BLOBBING at any time.

Use of the Blob is
‘Challenge By Choice’.
