Communists & Christians Empty Communists & Christians

Camper vs. Counselor game. Involves lots of running.

Time: 45-60 minutes

Materials:
-many, many popsicle sticks (represents Bibles)
-4 buckets
-land marker (can be anything from flags to grass paint that determines a small zone for the churches and the jail)
-playing field

Preparation:
-Designate zones with marker for the four churches, the jail, and Canada.
-If you want to, you can name the church's countries. Ex: China, Cuba, North Korea, etc.
-One counselor needs to stay in each church, 2-3 counselors in jail, and two others to hand out the popsicle sticks in Canada.
-All others are communists are in the playing field.
-Each church should have a bucket to put their Bibles in.

Objectives:
Campers (Christians): to smuggle more Bibles in the underground churches than the counselors can confiscate them.
Counselors (Communists): to confiscate more Bibles than the campers can smuggle them in the underground churches.

Gameplay:
-Campers start in Canada, in a designated area in a corner of the playing field, whereas the counselors start in the playing field.
-Campers are to collect one popsicle stick (Bible) from Canada, and try to smuggle it in one of four churches in the playing field, without being tagged by the communists.
-If a camper is tagged, he/she must surrender their popsicle stick to the communist and go to jail, and do whatever the jailor tells them to do. Once their specific task is complete, they can go back to Canada to get another Bible.
-If a camper makes it to one of the churches, he/she drops off their Bible and gets a free walk back to Canada.
-the jailors need to make the tasks fun, or even incredibly silly. Ex: make five baskets (basket-ball), sing a body bonker song, propose to ___, physical exercises (unless it's a very hot day), create a song about picking your wedgy to the tune of ___, etc, etc.

Rules:
-campers can only take one popsicle stick at a time.
-when campers are tagged, they must surrender their popsicle stick to the counselor that tagged them.
-counselors cannot guard any church within 10 feet.

Variations:
-Since I can't remember a time where the communists have not won this game, you can give them a limit of holding a maximum of 10 Bibles. Once they've achieved their limit, they must drop them off in Canada, where a recorder will record scores. Only then they can continue tagging other campers.
-Another counselor can be neutral in the game and walk from church to church, collecting the Bibles brought in by the campers, and bring them back for the recorder to record the camper's scores. This gives up-to-date information on how both teams are doing.
-There can be four different coloured posicle sticks - one for each country. In this case, the camper must bring their popsicle stick to the right church. This is to compensate for the many languages the Bible is translated in.
