Day 1 Bible Lesson:

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10

Just as we are Gods workmanship and He created us, these rockets are our own work. HE wants us to take pride in them and to use all of our creative ability. At the end of the week we will be launching our rockets and we will be able to see all of our hard work in action. God also desires to see us in action. Whether this is telling others about him or simply using the abilities he gave us.

(0-15) Attendance and introductions
Give a small history on the first rocket and how they work.
Show example/sample of an Alpha and a wizard rocket.
Make sure they all received the correct rocket

(15-45) Show the kids how to get started on their projects.
Make sure that you explain the importance of taking your time and making sure that everything is done right. This is more safety, performance and personal accomplishment.

(45-60) Begin clean up. Show kids where the supplies belong and how to store projects safely. Make sure everyone helps.

Needs:

-Alpha
-Wizard
-Samples
-glue and other supplies needed for construction

Day 2 Bible Lesson:

Review day 1 lesson. Get kids to remember what the lesson was about yesterday. We are Gods creation, these rockets are our creation. God wants to see us in action just like we are going to see the rockets we made in action.

Emphasize the importance of taking their time and effort to complete rockets so that they can be proud of them.

(0-15) Hand out supplies and rockets to the campers. Review some history on rockets (ex: who was the first person to ever go up in a rocket, or land on the moon.)

(15-45) Construction of the rockets. Make sure that it is reinforced and such. If there needs to be more glue or support that it is done. If they are complete construction they can start to plan what they want as far as paint goes (colors, design…).

(45-60) Clean up and put away.

Day 3 Bible Lesson:
-It’s what is on the inside of a rocket that counts
-even though some rockets may look really cool they won’t fly well because the insides are wrong
-God looks at who you are inside. Man looks at the outside but God looks in.

(0-15) Hand out rockets to the kids.
Stress that they need to be finished today because they will be launching them tomorrow.
Get kids to pick out their paints and designs for their rockets.

(15-45) Inspect those who are finished building their rockets to see if are ready to paint.
Painting and completing rockets.

(45-60) Pack parachutes and wadding into rockets if there is time and their rockets are dry.
Clean up all paints and supplies for the week and properly store them away for next group.

Day 4 LAUNCH DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Bible Lesson:
-the limit of human ability can never reach God; no matter how well the rocket is built it will never reach heaven. Only through Jesus can we get there.
-Good works cannot get you into heaven. We don’t have the power just like these rockets can’t reach space… they just don’t have the right parts to get there. Something needs to help them just like we need help.

Launch day-Paul Davenport or a trained program coordinator drives out ahead of the group while they walk to field and sets up rocketry table and battery. Getting different size engines and maybe a huge two stage rocket would keep kids interested in rocketry after camp.

(0-15) Hand out the rockets and walk with group to rocketry field
Explain rules of launching and safety

(15-45) Launch and find rockets

(45-60) Clean up and walk back to camp
